Hot Fun in the Summertime

Not much to report this week. I’m still slowly toiling away on four books during July Camp NaNoWriMo. First, Parahuman gets half an hour a day of love. So, I can whittle down this monster. Meanwhile, I’m also trying not to melt while keeping on top of my mental and physical health. Alas, there is still no progress on the prequel novella.

Book 1 – Justicar Jhee and the Cursed Abbey

Right now, most of the work here has been externalities. By externalities I mean working on items like blurbs, book descriptions, investigating formatting and other editing. Also, I ‘m still waiting to here from the cover designers.

Book 2 – Justicar Jhee and the Hole in the World

The fight continues. Because most of the low-lying fixes have been harvested, I’m working harder for less progress. What’s that they say? The last 10 percent takes 90 percent of the time/work. Most of the scenes have a status fair condition. Once more than half of them are in a more or less complete state, I’ll switch to only working on a shortened list of the worst scenes.

Book 3 – “The House of Knives/Sorrow”

The great retyping continues. I’m shifting over from strict retyping to more copying and pasting, because the copy is closer to final than the first two. In the past, I wondered if I was tricking myself about how much cleaner it was. I’m 22K into the draft now and it’s coming together a lot quicker. There aren’t as many snippets and/or huge swaths of text to be relocated. Although, there is a moderate amount of notes and brainstorming text. These might be more accurately called scene stubs.
