A Justicar Jhee Mystery
One of the two novellas I planned on doing for NaNoWriMo is just about done. I expect to finish it tomorrow or over the weekend. I’m still not sure what I plan to do for the other novella. The plan is to spend the next day or so brainstorming up the next one as I wrap up the current one.
Not much to report on any of my other work. Although, transcription has been a great boon to my word count. I’ve accidentally gone over about 2000 words a couple of times now that I’ve gotten the hang of the transcription process a little bit better. Transcription is definitely a lot better than straight up dictation, but I find that correcting mistakes is a little bit more murky. When dictating live, it was kind of easy to tell when the software understood that you were fixing it. However, with transcription I’m not quite sure if it’s adapting itself to the changes I made to the documents it’s producing.
Not much progress on Book 1. Although, the novellas are affecting some worldbuilding and previous ideas I had about how certain events happened. It’s also interesting to go back and explore some of the relationships between certain characters before the main series starts. Also, we’re getting a peek at the main characters’ home region.
The novella has brought about a tweak or two to Book 2, but not much more. It does flesh out some character aspects a little bit. It also contains some nice Easter eggs for anyone who reads the later stories.
Book 3 has benefited from the novellas too. A little bit more of the underlying backstory about how the main character and her family wound up where they were.
Have a lovely day!
