A Justicar Jhee Mystery
I saw Infinity War and won my Camp NaNoWriMo challenge! Though I think I spent too much time on busy work. I’ve also been on a reading tear. I finished about four or five books in the past two weeks. Listening to audiobooks at double speed has meant that I can get through some of the novels I’m reading for research in less than a day.
Most noteworthy, in a single day after I’ve done my daily writing. I’m a slow and distracted reader. So it sometimes took me a week to a month, sometimes longer to get through books normally. Unless it was a particularly compelling book, I rarely could read a book in a day. Despite the fact that I could read faster than most audiobooks, I often lost focus and frequently set a work aside unless I was also listening to the audiobook at the same time. Thanks to podcasts, though, I’ve grown accustomed to the chipmunk voice and no longer find it as distracting. It’s one of the reason I used to never increase the speed. That and the fact most playback apps didn’t have speed controls.
I tweaked some dialogue here and there. Also, I filled in a plot hole by making use of something already in the story.
I hit my Camp NaNo Goal of editing another 60 hours. Even combined with my work during NaNoEdMo, it still feels like I’ve barely put a dent in it. The story is definitely much more solid now, which is something. The location change was definitely the right call. It’s added other dimensions to the story. Those dimensions have gotten me closer to understanding the crimes, the perpetrators, and the victims. I haven’t quite had that breakthrough yet like I did with Book 1. I think I need one extra bit which will make it all hang together better.
I wrote a little bit more dialogue. I streamlined multiple backstories. Another character who’s role I’m not sure of came a step closer to getting a real name.
Have a lovely day!
