Long Time Gone

This week was less of a mess. Though, I felt ill, kept a regular doctor’s appointment, and did grocery shopping, I still got my writing done. Hooray for habit because I might have packed it in a few times. For the moment, imply counting down the days until July Camp NaNoWriMo or my editorial letter arrives.

Book 1 – Justicar Jhee and the Cursed Abbey

My developmental edit began on the 15th. As previously noted, I’m just waiting to hear back. The editor said they should be done by the 24th and so far haven’t asked me for additional time or clarification. Fingers crossed while I wait.

Blurb:

“Justicar Jhee and the Cursed Abbey” is the story of Jhee, investigative judge and new head of a polygamous household, from the Far Reaches of the empire of the Blessed Isles. Justicar Jhee must unravel the secrets which led to four deaths at a remote abbey before the same fate befalls her family.

Book 2 – Justicar Jhee and the Hole in the World

First, I made it through another straight through pass with my first reader. Lost some momentum as I started tackling tougher story problems. A few smatterings of snippets remain to integrate. Similar to Book 1, I had to add a few characters and plot lines to fill some story gaps. Once that’s done, I need to assign the scenes a triage status.

What Else?

Most of the work here has been on maps and on my urban fantasy doorstopper. For the doorstopper, I’m working through it a half hour at a time using a editing system from a course. It’s hard, tedious, yet still valuable. It’s like the Ocarina of Time Water Temple of editing. I wish I had chosen a shorter story. Despite being so long, I chose Parahuman because it needed the most work.

Have a lovely day!
